A Darkness so Sweet (Book 1 of 2) by Emma Hamm

ree

First Line:

Maia stood outside the door that would change her life forever.

Summary:

Maia just wants to be a florist. When she is offered to present her floral arrangements at a royal wedding, she can't say no.

But she ends up being the bride instead.

Ragnar doesn't want to marry a half-elf, but knows it is part of his duties and allegiance. When he finds out his betrothed is actually a frail human, he is overwhelmed with disgust.

They were both fooled, but married nonetheless. They must work together in this strange new alliance, and eventually grow to see each other as more than nuisances.

My Review: NO SPOILERS

Will never skip a monster romance

Also would never skip a book by Emma Hamm

She can quite literally NEVER miss 🫡 this book was so entertaining! The plot only got better as I kept reading! I also adored the relationship between Ragnar and Maia. Maia is the definition of a strong FMC, one who doesn't over- or underexaggerate her abilities and kindness.

Their story was so good, and I can't WAIT for the sequel

My Favorite Quote(s):

When he’d leaned over her, he swore he had smelled honey, spun sugar, pretty things that melted on the tongue without ever having to chew.

Ragnar had moved them so that he could fall asleep with her heart beating against his palm, all because he had lost so many people today that he needed to know she was alive. Just so that he could finally rest.

I know what it is to have a memory that has sunk its teeth into you. It’s a wolf with a grip on the back of your neck, shaking you every time you think you can get away from it.
