Micro-Poetry: Impact with Fewer Words

Hello friends!

This blog is going to be a low-effort one, as I'm between projects and am DYING to get back!

Today I wanted to talk poetry. I know, it's been a while, but I've been cranking out poems the last few months thanks to my amazing workshop group, Poetry as Movement. If you'd like to check them out, please do so! Our host, Juliana, is so kind and caring for everyone in the community, and I think my creativity is truly flourishing through it.

This isn't paid advertising or anything like that. It's just the truth!

Poetry is one of my favorite things to write because it's so versatile. There's never a right or wrong, whether it's pertaining to topic, style, form, etc. Lately, I've been dabbling in longer and shorter forms, per different prompts and challenges presented by the workshop.

One of those lovely prompts was to write six-word stories. I think it's always fascinating how much you can say with so few words. For my poetry friends, this can be a pleasant challenge for you to try out. Flex that creative muscle! For my readers, let me know how much impact these brief stories present.

Here's what I wrote!

living in limbo

off dreamed fantasies.

rain bending forward,

kissing my forehead.

moonlit, wolves frothing

beneath ghostly glow.

flesh burning hotter

than summer’s kiss.

Thank you guys so much for reading, and as always, happy Saturday <3
