My Review: NO SPOILERS
Fast-paced and emotional
First off, I’m so appreciative of Scott offering me an ARC copy of their book! The synopsis was just up my alley, and I was excited to read. Grumpy x Sunshine romances are an absolute favorite of mine!
With that being said, I could enjoy the story. It’s one about insecurity, trauma, hardship, and wanting more. I admire Scott for writing about such hard topics. I also think the concept of soulmates is super endearing.
While I did read the whole book and ultimately enjoyed the overall themes, I couldn’t quite connect with it. I think the story was a little too fast-paced. Olivia seemed a little too pushy in her endeavors with Cade. While her reasoning could be understood because of her situation, it felt obsessive rather than genuine. Some things she said made me raise an eyebrow because she was a little brutal with her word choice. I think if the tension between the two MCs slowed down, it would read a lot better!
Another thing I also didn’t quite resonate with was the arguments between the two. I felt like I couldn’t understand why two adults were arguing over stuff that seemed (to me) a little insignificant.
I thought this story had a lot of potential, but it felt rushed. I still enjoyed it overall, though, and hope to see Scott continue writing and improving <3
