First Line:
Cigarette smoke curls around my senses, burning my eyes and nose.
Summary:
Jade has landed herself and her family in a heap of trouble.
After astral projecting to cheat at poker, she and her family must enter a witness protection program in a run-down cafe. Simple, right?
Except the place is a disaster, and when she astral projects, there is an Ifrit running a bar behind her freezer. The thin veil between their realms only grows thinner as their relationship thickens. The longer Jade stays, the more she wants to leave her old life behind.
My Review: NO SPOILERS
A spicy, feel-good book
A great, easy read that has a sweet ending! The plot was unique, and I appreciated the inclusion of different cultures. It added depth to the characters and their backstories.
With that being said, Jade and Rhazan were so cute together! I felt like their personalities complemented each other well. Where Jade had a little chaos, Rhazan was calm and collected. They make a good team and a great couple!
For me, the story lost some steam near the end. I skipped through some passages, curious to know the ending but not fully engaged with the ultimate climax. With this being said, I still thought the book was great overall!
